Icart de Bas

The existing property on the site of Icart de Bas had been in the ownership of the client’s family for a number of generations. The new property therefore really had to do the site justice and make the most of the incredible views to Saints Bay and Petit Port beyond.

Working with the clients and design team, Davies Associates helped achieve the client’s brief of constructing a beautiful 5 bedroom house, built to energy efficient Passivhaus standards, that they could enjoy as a family and with up to 100 party guests. The building’s clever design incorporates a games room, wine cellar, bar area and cinema as well as a large elevated terrace from which the views can be fully appreciated.

With close cost control being implemented by Davies Associates from the project’s inception through to completion, the project was delivered within the client’s budget. This was helped by implementing an innovative procurement strategy to deal with the site’s challenging ground conditions and topography. 

The project recently received the ‘Professional’s Choice Award’ at the 2020 Guernsey Design Awards.
